About Me

I am a single work from home career mom with a freelance writing business. It has always been my dream to become a writer, and am happy my goal was accomplished. Writing stories, reviewing and proofreading books can be hectic at times, but I love it.

When I'm not at my desk, I'm probably at my son's school trying to be an active class parent. Baking, sewing and gardening are hobbies that I also enjoy. Listening to music relaxes me when working.

What is your name (real or user name)?

Michelle Stanley, but my username on other sites is Stanish.

Describe your writing style in three words.

Bold unpredictable potpourri.

How long have you been writing on line?

I've been writing for almost five years, but have been working full time for the past 2 years.

Which, if any, other writing challenges do you participate in?

I like to participate in the fun Glipho challenges, and am now looking forward to the Trifecta Writing Challenge held weekly. There is also the A to Z Challenge which I recently entered. It has been ages since I've entered challenges, but am doing my best to change that.

Describe one way in which you could improve your writing.

Scribble more. That's the only way to improve and learn new techniques.

What is the best writing advice you've ever been given?

I was once told to never explain the story to a reader when writing. Let the reader discover "the who, how and why" for himself through the suspense of words. I always do my best to follow this advice, and hope I have succeeded.

Who is your favourite author?

There are many that I admire, but Robert Ludlum was one of the first authors to leave an impression on me when I started reading his books years ago.

How do you make time to write?

Ha! I have to smile at this question, as I'm still trying to make time to create more articles for myself. My job often leaves me with little time to do this, so I write whenever the chance and inspiration comes. Writing through the night also offers less distraction.

Give us one word we should consider using as a prompt. Remember- it must have a third definition.

Relinquish:

1.To give up a possession, right, surrender.
2. To put aside or desist from.
3. To let go of; release.
